Seriously, I don't get what all the fuss is about these "holiday" things. What's with the goofy hat and stuff? The things I put up with... But Mami and Papi are enjoying it, so I guess it's worth the humiliation. Happy Holidays!
Mami and Papi love Kogi tacos (spicy pork in particular) whenever they can get them. But they never bring me along. All they brought me was this tank. Well, they bought it for Mami, but I think it looks better on me.
Mami bought me a brand new collar from Cycle Dogs. It's my favorite color (purple) and matches my natural beauty marks (a.k.a. spots). She read about Cycle Dogs on UrbanBulldog.com (a super cool bulldog blog), where Sherbert rocked it, and I secretly coveted my own. What's uber cool is that Cycle Dog makes collars and leashes out of old bike tubes. And since Papi's a crazy cyclist, he was all on board.
To celebrate the occasion, I took the liberty of breaking it in with a ceremonial dust dance. Mami and Papi failed to see the significance. They'll learn someday.
Mami and Papi just introduced me to corn -- and I love it, as you can tell. On the cob is the best, but trying to track down those little kernels requires serious skills. Practice makes perfect. More, please!
Papi's biking buddy Wayne Jacobsen took this photo in Florence, Italy. Ever since, I've been trying to convince Mami and Papi that umbrellas are a necessity. They're not obeying. More training is necessary.
Sadly, Gidget, of "Yo Quiero Taco Bell" fame, has died at the age of 15. She seemed quite the character. Maybe Mami and Papi will do a drive-through in her honor. They liked the commercials, not the food... I'm sure I'd like the food. Hmmm, Yo quiero... (Photo by Gregg DeGuire/WireImage.com Us Magazine, from Yahoo's OMG site)
Mami just watched the film "Wendy and Lucy," which made her cry. Why? It made her sad for humans who have to make difficult choices -- and so grateful for my old family(ies) for giving me up so I could find her and Papi. She appreciates rescues and shelters (like Southern California Bulldog Rescue) all over the nation who give doggies second (and third +) chances. Happy Independence Day!
This Friday, June 26, is Take Your Dog to Work Day! Not all workplaces are open to this fabulous holiday. But Mami's supervisor has thought of an alternative: Bring a photo of your beloved to the office and post in a public space -- like the breakroom bulletin board. People could even try to match owners with their dogs. Paws up to all the workplaces who welcome four-legged friends!
CBS 4 in New York reports "Half of Pet Owners Give Pets Human Names." Not surprising at all, considering how much we mean to our human companions. Best line from 10-year-old Sebastian Parks: "I think it is better to treat dogs like humans because some people treat them badly and they don't deserve to be treated that way." Paws up, Sebastian!
